Identity and source
Reported. Fextralife places the encounter beyond Vale of Wrath > Old Windmill, during Chapter 5: Crime. PowerPyx Chapter 5 agrees. Follow the wooded path from that lantern toward the windmill to trigger it.

Reported encounter notes
Reported. This is a weak-point and traversal encounter, rather than a melee damage race. Method's October 13 guide uses a Pistol, Stasis and grapple interactions. Its "fourth chapter area" wording conflicts with both retail chapter sources above; Chapter 5 is the chapter label used here.
How to damage the windmill
Reported. The following sequence combines Method with Fextralife's retail encounter page.
- Dodge the extending tentacles and shoot the exposed orange weak points. When the mill lifts, check underneath for another target.
- Grapple open the lower panel, freeze the exposed gears with Stasis, then pull the other panel to uncover its weak point.
- When wind pushes you away, stop looking for targets. Use the wallrun, grapple and swinging route to get inside; shoot the internal eye targets.
- Outside again, resume weak-point shooting while avoiding ground spikes and exploding bodies. Move out of red-lit ground.
- At the next pushback, activate Stasis Formation cover and cross between fire blasts. Grapple the entrance to reach the traversal checkpoint.
Checkpoint and final platforming
Reported. Method identifies the "Lantern Rekindled" message as a checkpoint. On the following wallrun/grapple route, shoot infected bodies on landing surfaces before jumping onto them; the guide recommends Airborne Aiming for these shots. At the last platform, shoot the hanging weak points until the central eye opens, then fire into it. Fextralife also documents the final exposed eye.
Reported. PowerPyx's chapter route places lost Catalysts just past the Old Windmill lantern after a death in the later section. Check there if they are absent from the boss room.
Preparation
Inference. Reload before a traversal sequence, then concentrate on reaching the next safe surface. Aiming at unopened panels wastes attention needed for the ground hazards. Do not interrupt the fire-cover crossing to attempt a speculative melee attack.
Check combat commitment and weapon defenses before choosing your kit.
Achievement and limits
Reported. The retail trophy guide associates this encounter with Quixotry. Steam does not publicly expose all hidden boss conditions.
